Ok, I know I'm not supposed to name other bloggers in my entries, but I hope we can make an exception here. Brad, as CEO of Stardock and the driving force behind the goodness of Joe User, deserves a little jab once in awhile to keep him on his feet. Besides, I like the guy, even if HE IS THE DEVIL!

Well, not the Biblical Satan intent on the downfall of man. More like Old Saint Nick, waiting to tempt you with your greatest desire at every turn. Brad does that, the tempting thing, and it's time that I warn other JU users to his wicked ways! of course, if you're here, it's probably too late for you...
I've know Brad as an acquaintance online for some time now. At first I thought he was a pretty nice guy. Windowblinds was a hit, and here was this smiling guy behind the scenes handing out goodies to everyone that wanted to make their computer special. Little did I know then, Windowblinds would consume a large part of my life! Wasting my valuable time tweaking new Windowblind skins to suite my own taste, imagining the next cool skin... I could have been saving children from burning buildings!

You'd think that was enough, causing me to neglect the poor children, but no, Brads company Stardock just had to offer the apple again - this time as DesktopX! The first real Windows widget application, DesktopX was years ahead of anything else. I personally spent so much time making zoomer objects during the first of this century that its amazing my wife ever became pregnant! Good thing the kids look like me!

But Brad didn't stop there. Oh no, next it was Object Dock, with all of its neat little animated effects and super cool plug ins. Just when I thought I had broken free of my addiction to brightly colored animated objects, the dealer gives away another fix. I can't even imagine how many cats are stuck in trees to this day because I was too busy running my cursor back and forth over Object Dock, watching it zoom up and down.

So recently I felt free. The devil I knew was behind me. Until I get another email me my acquaintance. "Check out this new free community we've set up... https://www.joeuser.com. You might like it." You know the rest. I sit here, day after day, thinking of plastic bottles I could be recycling... all the sufferring the enviroment will endure because I sit here night after night blogging! Once again, all Brads fault! He's the devil I tell you!!!

Very nice.

Bad thing is, it spreads like a disease . . . I had a friend who got it from her sister who then gave it to me and I gave it to my brother and my husband . . . who knows who's next? You've already given it to your wife . . . it's insidious.

The eleventh commandment:

Thou shalt not piss in the free ice cream. (and yes, to avoid the pummeling to follow, I know the article's a joke.)
on Nov 10, 2004
Ack! Pee in the ice cream? No bueno mi amigo!
You should see the minds Ive corrupted by pimping out Stardocks toys... so many wasted hours of fun, so many kittens stuck in trees, never to be saved.

I'm told there's a spray that will take care of that!

I've been infected with Wardell-itis for...oh....9 months now.  I, in turn, infected my husband.  He apparently is Wardell-resistant, or possibly immune because he has yet to succumb fully to the disease.  My children are showing signs of infection....and I'm thinking that I ought to try and start containing myself in order to halt the spread.

I'm thinking about starting a support group for those of us who are terminally infected.  Then we'll think about a class-action lawsuit....

terminally infected

This thing is terminal?!?

This thing is terminal?!?

No it's just imposible to shake, once you have it you have it for life. I have had it since 1999 with no signs of recovery...........

I'm thinking about starting a support group

I think that's what joeuser is for Brad.

Then we'll think about a class-action lawsuit....

NO NO NO..... the company would fall and then think of the withdrawls we'd all have to go through...........

Joe is addicting...

I think in terms of articles now....

Ooh, good point, I didn't think about that.....

And you're right about JU being Brad's support group.

Heather, there is no known cure for Wardellitis.  That's why I described it as 'terminal'.  Those afflicted have learned to live with it, they adapt and adjust and lead relatively normal lives.  At least, I do.

Except that when people talk to them during the day they add in their head how many points they have received that day based on actual real life comments and mark points off for trolling!

I caught it a different way, I was looking around for this thing called Galatic Civizations, and I saw it in the store, it looked temping but I was like am I sure, not sure, etc. Well Game Stop had a gaming madness and I took it home and then the infection started. This little program was on my computer called stardock central. Then I stared logging to www.galciv.com to get the updates, well it doesn't stop there. No Brad makes an add-on called Altarian Prophecy and that's where true trouble started brewing. He puts up a warning for people who own Galactic Civ to hurry up and buy membership to then Dregin.net and get all the games from stardock for one low price for a year. GULP! Sucking away all my free time I join them, thinking ok that sounds like good creative advertising they won't raise the rates. Well lo-and-behold they certainly have done so, recreating the Dregin.net into www.totalgaming.net and now I'm fully infected. I saw on Stardock this Joeuser and I joined them. and now on top of the infection I have the Joeuser itch and it straches me daily.

OS customization has become my new form of gaming. Instead of fragging or world domination, I now spend my free time tweaking my desktop, making sure my wallpaper, Windowblinds skin, icon package, cursors, ObjectDock + tabs and backgrounds and widgets all match a specific theme. And now I have started making things of my own. Then I blog about it. Or other things.

The horror. The horror.

Curse you Brad Wardell!!!

Me too, but then I can't remember most of them when I finally get to the computer

they adapt and adjust and lead relatively normal lives

Except when the phone rings and someone says hello, using your name from JU instead of your real name
