I want to start this blog by deeply thanking the 58,884,557 American citizens that voted to re-elect President George W. Bush to the White House. You have made history, giving our President the highest popular vote in The United States of America. Never before has any President lost the popular vote during his first election been re-elected to a second term, and never has the turn out been so great. You understand the challanges that face America, and you understood which canidate was the person for the job.

At home the American people have made their voices heard by changing the face of Congress to better suite our domestic and international needs. Senate Minority leader, Tom Daschle, who has opposed the President at almost every turn over the past 2 years, has been removed from office. The people of North Dakota have made it clear that obstructionist politics will not be tolerated. Across the country, a rallying cry was heard and answered. Republicans gained seats throughout Congress, picking up seats in both the Senate and The House for the strongest majority in two branches of Federal Government held since 1937. President Bush has already made great advances for the American people over the last four years. President has given America rejuvenating tax cuts for every citizen, support for educating Americas children and the first ever Federal funding for cutting edge stem cell research, advancing the hopes and dreams of Americans suffering with diseases and handicaps across our country.

The American people have sent a message of hope across our borders with this mandate. The world now understands that despite our divisions, despite our differences, we believe in this President, we are resolve in fighting those that would kill and supress the innocent, and we will stay the course in destroying those that would see America undone. You have sent a message to our allies, both military and economic, that America is strong, that America will not bow to the detrimental wishes of other countries. And most importantly, you, the American voter, have sent a message of hope to every man, woman and child living in terror, living in oppression, living under the heels of evil. This was seen clearly in the announcement of a new Afghanistan President yesterday, and in the upcoming January free elections in Iraq, all direct results of President Bush's foreign policy and resolve.

To those that voted against this President, to those that hate him, I say simply this: come with us now. Make your voice heard, not through hate, or sorrow, but through unity. Join us, talk with us, and experience the joy of bettering America. We may disagree, but we will hear you better walking along side us, than if you turn your back on us. Look to the future with us, help us to shape it so every single American, black or white, liberal or conservative, gay or straight, healthy or sick, old or young can lift their head up high and take pride in their country, to have hope for their future.

Never before has any President lost the popular vote during his first election been re-elected to a second term, and never has the turn out been so great.

Actually, the closest analogy in history is John Adams and John Q Adams.  As the first only served one term, and the second did the same, but his election went to the house.  2000 was the first election in over 100 years where the popular winner lost in the electorate.  I can recall JQA, Rutherford B Hayes and Benjamin Harrison. The middle one was a true scandal.  The first was due to 3rd party candidates (take that H Ross Turncoat!) and the last was just like 2000.

As an addendum, I would also tell all Kerry supporters that you can disagree with the president.  But do so sane and rationally.  The rhetoric your party has been screeching over the last 3 years is why you lost.  Let us discuss the issues, and disagree.  But let us not have any of the Kennedy/Gore vitriol.

I am so very glad that this blog entry of mine, written early Wednesday, was completely ignored by our more liberal members here at JU. It is now obvious to me that the hatred that consumes them is unquenchable.

Bravo.

Actually it probably has more to do with the futility of discussing ideas with someone who only has time to listen to the sound of their own voice. From what I have read of yours, you don't put much stake in actually "listening" to your fellow bloggers or trying to find where they are coming from, but are all to willing to jump into attack mode, which only get the rest of our backs up.

I find this particularly amusing since you came to my personal blog (not a forum article) and called me disingenious and a liar because we disagree politically. Unity will come, but you can't expect people to not be sad for a little while, even a day. There was a lot of hope and emotion put into this campaign and to pretend that people aren't disappointed is to ignore reality. Some of us more artisitic types like to twist the english language around to show our (fleeting and temporary) anguish.

You seem to want nothing more than to pick a fight--maybe us "liberals" just aren't interested in fighting with you.

Perhaps I'm looking for a fight, perhaps I just try to stick to facts. There is a huge difference between between fighting with someone for no reason and calling someone out for spreading propoganda. Feel free to catch me on any mistruths I spread... I try to research many of my posts.

Perhaps I've hurt you feelings? If you were to read my full blog you will see that while I am quick to call people out when they cannot back up incorrect statements, I am also quick to praise people for the differnce in ideals. Yes, I am viscious when people espose hatred of me and my families beliefs... it is my way and I make no apologies for it.
