Well, it's true. I loaded up Quake 3 Arena today to see how it runs on this powerhouse of a computer I've built myself and discovered I suck. Not just suck, but I'm really bad at the game now, and I might be scarred for life because of it.
I used to be a Quake3 GOD. Deathmatch was nothing to me, usually a 50 fraglimit match meant I gave everyone else a good 15-20min headstart of play time so they'd have a chance against me. Platform rail gunning, twisting and turning through the air without ever stopping, nobody was safe from me. I was so good, after a few years of playing every day I'm not only positive I could have taken the World Champion in my prime, I would have been bored waiting for him to step up and try to deliver.

I was amazing.

Now, it's been over a year since I stopped with my daily fragfest. Other games, such as Halo, Doom3, Unreal Tourney and others have creeped into my weekend play, and it's completely whacked out my Quake skills. It's either that, or I'm getting old, so I'll blame the other games for now...

Lol just be happy you can even play the game. My vertigo kills me each time I play those type of games. I never played those type since Doom. After that, all doom versions and Quake versions makes me so dizzy I can't stand. I did play Quake 3 for a hour, being stubborn, but I sure paid for it with 3 days of basically unable to walk due to heavy dizziness.

Old School UT all the way!

I was never a quake guy, but seeing my old haunt for playing a good game of UT go by the wayside, I feel some of your pain.

I never really got into Quake 3. I enjoyed UT a lot more. Still have UT installed on my system. I have been playing a lot more UT2004 lately. Love that game.

Yes you were. Quite an amazing player. I enjoyed fragging you constantly.

Heheh, you think? Maybe you ruled the roost for year one, but you've got to admit I was unstoppable for the last few months we played together.

Now that's entertainment.

Argh, I hate it when I fire the Redeemer too close to myself!
on Oct 27, 2004
I think its worse to fire it and have someone sharp shoot it out of the air so close to you, you die....

Aye, that is pretty miserable as well.

God, I was such a biorifle ho... lol....

Stupid double post... sorry DZ.... feel free to delete this one.

I never really liked the biorifle. I eventually learned to appreciate it, but never spent enough time to become proficient. I am, however, a tried and true flack monkey. Both the biorifle and flack cannon are pretty decent spammers.

See, I found the biorifle to be the best nuisance weapon in the game... something that could radically alter how a lms match would turn out.... and one shot of it fully loaded up to the head would kill anyone, no matter how well armored and healthy they were.
