I've run a few skinning sites in my time. From a Super moderator at Neowin to one of the original founders of Aqua-Soft, my journey through the skinning community has been long and varied. Now I run a site called Aero-Soft.com, a spin off of Aqua-Soft.org. Instead of emulating the look of OSX on WindowsXP, now I emulate the look of Longhorn on WindowsXP. It's a good site, small but growing. Here's a few things I've seen there recently that I recommend people not do to the webmaster of a forum, blog or any other URL oriented community:

1.) Calling the webmaster a thief. I had some guy from France sign onto the site. At first things were good, until a project I released didn't meet his standards. I had asked the community for resources for this project, with the promise I would credit everyone who's resources I used. When finally released, I missed this guy in the credits, probably because he was late in contributing and I didn't use anything he sent.

So he complains, loudly.

I fix the error - I try to be a nice guy most of the time, so his name was immediatly added and the project updated WITH my apologies. He continues to go on about it, calling me names, slandering me and generally being an ass. Hey, its the internet, you expect these things, right? I guess my point here is don't call the webmaster a thief, then insult other people in the community. It will get you blocked.

2.) Cut the soap operas already. I had a kid, no idea what his age is, start whining about... well, Im not sure what. Nobody else was certain. After him asking me to delete his account, me refusing, him insisting and then me deleting, I get an email from him wanting back at the site. Like I said, I try to be nice, so I let him back.

Now he wont stop PMing me about his little soap opera, and he's about to get blocked. Point: when a webmaster asks many, many times to stop bothering him with things that the webmaster doesnt care about, stop bothering the webmaster.

I know, this is silly and probably shouldnt even be posted. I've seen far worse over the years, and this is really nothing. I guess I just had to get it out of my system...

Actually, I think you show considerable patience and goodwill. I would have muzzled that loser for good after calling me a thief.
BTW: Aero-Soft is a fantastic site for all that is Longhorn. It is one of the few places that I visit many times a day and will continue to do so as long as it exists.
