[The God effect]

Disclaimer: These are my beliefs, and are not an attack on your beliefs. Pretend it's 10PM, work for the day is done, and a big group of us have just hit an all night diner. The coffee is good and fresh pie is on the menu. I'll be chain smoking Camels, but its a big table, so if you dont want to sit too close thats ok...

Recently Ive read some disturbing things concerning God. People come up with arguements to disprove God, or to say that God doesn't exist and it makes me wonder if they've really thought about their arguements. I'd like to throw out a few thoughts...

It amazes me that people can say there is no God. While God cannot be measured, cannot be scientifically examined and quantified, I fail to see how the effects of God in peoples lives doesnt count as proof. Think I'm reaching? Then let's talk about gravity for a second. Gravity cannot be seen. It cannot be bottled and sold. We ONLY see gravity's effects. Release an object and gravity will pull it towards the Earth. Leave the stratosphere and the lack of gravity must be compensated for. And yet a unit of gravity (the graviton?) has never been proven to exist. We do not know the true nature of gravity, if it is energy, wave or dimensional harmonic.

We don't even know if our most exacting calculations of gravity are correct, as gravity behaves differently on different scales. Physicists search for a "unified theory" is consistantly foiled by the inconsistancy of gravity, and yet every human in the world relies upon this strange force without question. Simply because they see its effects. And much like God, if you don't believe in it, gravity will still effect your life.

I see the effects of God every day. In the love of my children, in an act of kindness between strangers, in the miracle of birth or the very fact of existance, I see God. A step further, I see God in miraculous events. Science shows us calculations that the Big Bang did happen, and can mathmatically describe our living universe to within seconds after this event occured. Is it wrong for me to ascribe this beautiful event as an effect of God?

Look at the clockwork interaction of the universe, can that not be an effect of God? I see life, formed here on Earth, requiring precise measures be met in degrees barely imaginable by humans, and I praise a living God. The same science that is the basis for our technology, for our cars and phones and clothing is the same science that carbon dates fossilized bone and supports evolution; again I see God, using an amazing process to create intelligence and diversity.

I see the effect of God, and I believe.

Thats all for now. Comment at will. This WILL BE a series of blogs touching on the metaphysical and spiritual. I may even pull topics out of your comments.

And dont forget, this is for fun.
